The traditional Bermuda calendar starts on Easter Friday when Bermudians head down to Horseshoe Bay to fly their kites. The season kicks into full swing with Harbour Nights which begins in May and runs all the way through to October giving the visitor a taste of the real Bermuda with live music and entertainment and local arts and crafts on show every Wednesday evening.
May 24 is Bermuda Day when everyone takes to the streets to watch the parade of performing artists down Front Street. The second half of the year is dedicated to sporting events with the PGA Grand Slam of Golf in October seeing the world’s best players go head to head for one of golf’s most prestigious prizes and the coveted pink jacket. This is followed by the World Rugby Classic in November where countries from across the globe battle it out to be top dog in a highly competitive field of teams.
Christmas Day sees the ex-pat community descend upon Elbow Beach on Christmas Day for a glass of champagne or two and a quick dip in the sea. The year ends with the annual Christmas Boat Parade when the island’s sailors decorate their boats with lights and parade them around Hamilton Harbour.
