The Location
In the Heart of it All
The island of Barbados has long possessed a magical sort of allure — travelers flock here to experience its charming culture, a mishmash of West Indian and British heritage, not to mention the stunning scenery and breathtaking beaches.
Ocean Two is located on the beautiful and secluded Dover Beach at the southern end of Barbados near St. Lawrence Gap, one of the best known neighborhoods on the island.
Known affectionately as “The Gap,” this area is rich in nightlife, daytime activities, and shopping and entertainment.
Also nearby is the colorful village of Oistins, home to the wonderful weekly fish fry that’s a regular temptation to locals and visitors alike.

The Beach
A Beautiful Bajan Beach
With a little help from mankind, Dover Beach is one unbeatable stretch of sand. As if the soft sands and stunningly blue waters weren’t beautiful enough, impressive boulders were moved in to sculpt the beachscape into an aesthetically pleasing setting for long days of sun and fun.
The beach is large and wide, and is known as a water sports hub, offering sailing, jet-skiing, boogie boarding, windsurfing and more. Ocean Two’s water sports team is on hand to set you up with whatever equipment you desire. While there are no strong currents here, the sea can be quite active, but don’t worry: a lifeguard is on duty to ensure your safety.
You’ll find everything you need at this beach, including drinks, ice cream, snacks, souvenirs, snorkeling gear, and even sunscreen and sunglasses in case you’ve forgotten to bring your own.
Plenty of Beaches Nearby
It may be hard to tear yourself away from the beauty and fun atmosphere of Dover Beach, but if you do feel up to exploring, there are plenty of other fringes nearby.
Just east of Ocean Two is Maxwell Beach, where the waters are a bit lively, yet still calm enough for swimming. A wide expanse of soft white coral sand meets blinding turquoise waters, and water sports and chair and umbrella rentals are available.
If snorkeling is high on your vacation to-do list, head just west of the resort to St. Lawrence Bay, where the water is impressively shallow at low tide, and the reef that fringes the bay is home to some beautiful undersea life.
The Pool
Two Refreshing Outdoor Pools
Ocean Two boasts two pools in which you can take a refreshing dip. The 150-foot main pool offers a large deck equipped with lounge chairs and umbrellas, along with panoramic ocean views. This pool is ideal for taking in some sun, or for getting in a few morning laps before a day of fun Barbados adventures.
Or, steal away to the second pool on the resort’s roof deck patio, eight stories high. This area is for adults only, and the pool is a small plunge style, perfect for cooling down after an afternoon of sightseeing. Head to this secluded hideaway when it’s a relaxing escape that you seek, and take in the impressive sweeping views of the beach and that beautiful Bajan sea.

Ocean Two’s on-site restaurant, Taste, features a fusion of European and Asian styles with amazingly fresh local ingredients. This open-air venue boasts amazing pool and beach views, and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Meals at Taste are punctuated by the friendly smiles and laughter of the restaurant’s staff.
Also on-site, guests will find ‘O’Asis, a chic onyx bar offering great drinks and bar food, and Quench, a fun and casual poolside bar with light snacks and treats, where you can swim right up to place your order, or simply signal from your beachside lounger to ask for delivery of whatever your heart should desire.
Panorama is Ocean Two’s rooftop patio bar, offering solitude and breathtaking scenery from eight stories in the air.
Dining in St. Lawrence Gap
If you like having access to a wide range of dining options, you’re in luck because St. Lawrence Gap has so much to offer.
For a casual, party atmosphere, head to McBride’s Pub and Cookhouse. Meat lovers will rejoice at Paulo’s Churrasco Do Brasil, the Eastern Caribbean’s only Brazilian steak house, where a three centuries-old technique of cooking meat over an open fire renders meals that are, in a word, mouthwatering.
Roadside stands and beachfront vendors serve arguably the best food in Barbados — do NOT leave this island without tasting the national dish of cou-cou and flying fish — and you’ll find a lovely concentration of culture and local food at the weekly fish fry in Oistins, just east of Ocean Two. The main attraction here is fried fish, straight outta the fishing boats and making a brief stop at the fryer before being served to you. Show up early, grab a picnic table, and have a blast with the locals at this fun event.

Nighttime Entertainment, Technology Options
Entertainment here largely consists of laying poolside or beachside sipping on a cool, refreshing drink. The hotel’s three bars are great places to mingle with other guests and to catch live nightly entertainment, and aptly-named Panorama on Ocean Two’s rooftop patio offers the added bonus of breathtaking panoramic ocean views.
If you simply can’t leave your technology tether behind during your vacation, you’ll be pleased to know you can rent iPods stocked with various play lists, and iPads as well.
Party Down in The Gap
