We recently spent10 days at Beach View. This was our third trip to Barbados and our first time here. This is a wonderfully-run property. Our third floor apartment was kept immaculate by the house-keeping staff and our every wish was granted by Carrie, in the office. She is an amazing communicator and clearly loves her job. Our highlight at this property was the Thursday night cocktail party at the Allcott home. It was a rare treat to be invited to someone's home while on holiday. We felt more like friends, rather than guests. This is a smallish property with two small pools located beside each other. Our only issue during this trip was the noise at the pool. There were a lot of children there that week, as it was the Easter Break in the U.K. schools. The constant screaming and yelling was not conducive to a quiet time for those of us who wanted to chill and read. We ate at several excellent restaurants in Barbados, most notably, Cin Cin, The Coral Reef, Cariba ,The Mews and Daphnes., Only Daphnes disappointed, while Cin Cin provided an unforgettable evening (both food and setting). We would return to this lovely property at a time which was not a school holiday. « less

So many reviews saying the same thing it's hard to add so I shall summarise our trip. Arrival: Greeted by the lovely Carrie who seemed so genuinely proud of her dad's (Robin) development, we instantly felt valued guests. Room: We were taken on a tour of the grounds by Robin and then on to our room, spacious, immaculately clean, beatuful view. Great quality furnishings with every detailed considered, even down to the furniture on the HUGE balcony. The kitchen was complete, no "kitchenette" here. This was a fully equipped modern spotlessly clean one, it even had a blender.smoothie maker. Grounds: Lovely, well maintained gardens and clean pools, with loads of sun loungers and parasols, beware though, the parasols provide only limited shade and you WILL burn, like I did in one hour on our first day - doh! Location: Short few steps across the road (which is no problem at all) to a lovely stroll on the great beaches. Fish market yards away with fresh fish caught and sold daily. Bus stops both directions outside the grounds with frequent services ( we never waited more than 5 mins). Minutes by bus or car to Holetown (try Relish for lunch - great or buy in from Posh Nosh at Holetown fro great food without the prep). I would have awarded five stars for location if it had been directly on the beach and feel a bit mean knocking a star off but I'm being honest. Staff: Everyone incredibly polite and friendly and willing to help with advice on where to go and what to do, from the adorable Oliver on security gate (he's a wise guy!), Carrie and Natalie and the guys on reception, to the lovely ladies in housekeeping. Beach View is just excellent value, we'd return without hesitation and plan to do so as soon as we can. Tips: I can't imagine there is a bad room or bad view in the whole place, we stayed in 305 which is top floor in one of the two middle blocks, our block was called Sea Grape. Beware the limited protection from the parasols. The Roti Den a few yards down the road is great for a quick snack. Don't buy Lays crisps from the Esso station, we paid almost £5 (approx US$8, BDS$16 for a large bag - ridiculous). The Orange Street Grocer in Speightstown is worth the bus trip for lunch in lovely surroundings, it's only 2 dollars on the bus although sadly Speightstown has little to offer otherwise. Some people say Jordans supermarket is cheaper than SuperCentre but I guess it depends what you buy, I didn't find any difference to speak of but Jordans is nearer to Beach View, about one minute on the bus but a hot walk so I wouldn't walk!! « less

I recently spent 2 weeks at the Beachview Apts with my Mum, Daughter and Sister and had an amazing time I had tossed up between the All inclusive experience or SC and was so glad that i had chose the latter!!. The staff at beachview were amazing, from Robin, Carrie and the team to the lovely ladies who cleaned our room, and the security, gardening & maintanance team. Every one welcomes you with a smile and does everything to make you feel at home. I noted that there had some silly reviews about the noise at the back of the apartments, of cocks crowing, dogs barkig etc... i mean come on... get with the programme guys. The first night you are aware of the noises, but by the second day you are lapping them up, along with the tunes of the birds singing, the bats, the reggae buses tooting as they pass by... and you say to yourself...yeah!!! i'm in the Carribean man... i'm here listening to the sound, heartbeat of the culture, in a beautiful apartment, looking at the sea, sky, lovely gardens.. what else do you want. Some of the key people who really made our holiday were..... Henrietta & Joanna from The HUT and their faithful assistand Atticus. I would highly recommend "adding" breakfast to your SC option as it was well worth it. And if you are nice to them, they pretty much make you up anything that you ask them, We had saltfish, peppers, oinions with fried eggs, cheese and hame toasties for lunch fresh Mahi Mahi, curries... you name it. Each week they will do a couple of special options. For us THE HUT was at the heart of our experience... i loved them!!!! They even prepared Bkfst and Lunch for my daughter and sent it to our room!!! (as she was generally being lazy) One of the other things i liked about BV was when we arrived, we were greeted immediatly by security and reception, who knew our names and took care of our bags etc. It gave us a real sense of security and caring, and since that intial day, the security staff were always greeting us with smiles and hellos. Tony Tiger the Taxi driver is an aboslute diamond, he collected us from the airport, and we also took him for a tour around the island, including a must trip to the East coast and lunch at Atlantis..., he is a lovely guy with a really funny sense of humor. All these people, and many more i havnt mentioned are what made our experience of BBDS amazing, The self catering option is a must for anyone who WANTS to observe the culture. OK there wont be POOl BINGO but there will be a chance to mix and blend with the culture. You are right next to Paynes bay / Sandy Lane / Holetown which are some of the most expensive areas in BBDS, at an affordable price. Eating out is not cheap, but balance it up with a trip to the well stocked supermarket, a great rappor wtih the onsite HUT, a few posh meals at Cin Cins or the Cliff, a trip to the affordable "Just Grillin" in Holetowm, and also a visit to the "Van" that pulls up just outside 1 Sandy Lane with food for the locals, you might have to queue, but you could just lie on the beach and pay one of the beach vendors to go for you, and why not also buy him lunch while you are at it, they wll do anything for you, and the nicer you are the better deals you get !. My theory is DONT go to an allinclusive, make sure you enjoy the culture, have your freedom to experience all levels of the island.. Many people on the island rely on tourism, and they certainly treat tourists really really well, they may try to sell you something but if you say no, then they jsut move on, or have a chat about the weather, like any other person....Get involved. We are definatly going back to Beachview... there is so much still to experience, Rhea, Rheanna, Valerie and Claire +1 « less
