Did our homework and read up on the All Seasons - Europa before booking a week there in May 2012 so we expected to find the bungalows a bit shopworn cosmetically but a good compromise for travelers on a budget. Although this is clearly not a luxury hotel (no swim-up bar in the pool, no ocean view), we didn't find it "shopworn" after all. We had a garden room with a patio overlooking a backyard filled with local birds and with fairly frequent visits from groups of green monkeys. Everything in our room was well maintained and clean. Absolutely the only things that needed replacing were the faucets in the shower, which worked fine but could have been re-chromed. But the big plus was the staff at the reception desk. Nyoka, Cheryl and Malisha were all as accommodating and proactive as they could possibly be to ensure our stay was a good one. With them manning the helm, we probably came as close to the feeling of having a personal assistant as we are going to. Because of them, I got the least expensive and possibly best haircut I've ever gotten, my husband was able to see a dentist who turned out to have trained at Columbia University, we were able to rent a good car for a favorable price and we consistently ate at good restaurants on a budget. When we set out to tour the island in our rented car, we had a map with all the most picturesque points marked on it by the staff at All Seasons. Didn't think I would join in any kind of water exercise class, but happened upon a class in water zumba that was free to guests and was excellent and a lot of fun. The common areas include a bar where guests congregate, a poolroom, a patio with internet access overlooking the pool, the Red Parrot Restaurant (which we did not try), and the swimming pool. I'll just mention that the pool table needs to be fixed (the playing surface has a crack in it). They should either remove it or re-surface it. But again, this is a nit, not a major flaw. The beach is an easy 10 minute walk away and it's beautiful. All Seasons guests also get a pass that allows them to use the facilities at the Beach House, which is right off the beach and has a bigger pool. Restaurants and the local supermarket are all within a mile. We could have taken the All Seasons shuttle (free to guests) but chose to walk most of the time. Fruits and vegetables are available from a nearby stand. The women who work the stand are the only people we met on Barbados who aren't perfectly gracious but they do their cranky shtick while selling good produce. For coffee, we walked a couple of blocks to Italia (a Starbucks lookalike) and we really enjoyed the family-run Ozara's restaurant, in the same row of stores, for tasty and reasonable breakfast and lunch. Ozara's had a hidden bonus: Kathy, one of the owners, hand-paints dresses and t-shirts. When we were there, she hadn't set up that shop yet but would show you her creations if you asked. I bought a beautiful handpainted tee shirt that I would have been happy to find at a crafts fair. We would definitely return to All Seasons. « less

It was our first time in Barbados and we had booked a last minute deal through Virgin which was very reasonable for the week commencing 5th May. Upon arrival at the All Seasons, friendly Sherill on reception checked us in very quickly and efficiently and then showed us to room 12, a garden view apartment. The bungalows are very spacious and have a dining/sitting room, small kitchenette, bedroom and bathroom. Although the furnishings are pretty basic and quite dated, this place is SPOTLESS. The housekeepers are so friendly and do an absolutely fantastic job keeping the place totally spick and span. Looking out over gorgeous greenery and lots of wildlife (birds, lizards and monkeys) was lovely and we spent a few evenings and early mornings chilling on our terrace enjoying the view and tropical sounds. Its really quiet and private, just perfect for us. We personally much preferred our room to those overlooking the pool. The pool area was quiet and had plenty of loungers available, we spent most of our time exploring the nearby fabulous beaches but happily relaxed poolside with the wifi a few times. The resort is in a residential area about 5-10 walk from the coast. The area is lovely, quiet and felt very safe. The resort is practically on top of the Sandy Lane grounds/golf course and one morning we did a lovely long walk over the entire course which is beautiful and exquisitely maintained. It was not a big deal for us not being on the beach at all. Since all beaches in Barbados as public it was fantastic to explore up and down the west coast (All Seasons is perfectly located in the middle) we travelled by the yellow ZR buses which were fun and so convenient. Our favourites were the local Holetown beach, Reads Bay and Mullins. There is nice public access path to Paynes Bay just beyond Sandy Lane Beach before the turning to CocoNutz bar. The path has a shower at the end and you can either turn right and do a nice walk by some mangroves along to Sandy Lane or left into Paynes which is fun. Heading north toward Speightstown we liked the picnic area by the Marine Reserve and had a great lunch and relaxing afternoon by the Lonestar resturant - which had fantastic cocktails and view. Mullins is a particulaly lovely beach to spend a day on and we enjoyed the resturant too. We had a really delicious carribean curry in Zacchios on Holetown beach and spent quite a bit of time in Surfside which has a lovely chilled atmosphere and great position on the beach (it also shows all the football matches which my boyfriend enjoyed). We didn't have too much hassle on the beaches at all, everyone is really friendly and if you respond with a polite no thanks to jewellry/watersports- you are left to your own devices no problems. We would have liked to explore the island on foot more but it can be a bit dodgy as the pavements are a bit sporadic, but the buses are so frequent you can whiz about on them no problem. Going back to All Seasons in particular, the staff were unfailingly helpful - all of the girls on reception were lovely. Dennis the driver kindly took us down to Oistins on the Friday and is around with the shuttle bus if you don't fancy walking down to the beach/shops. I've already sung the praises of the housekeepers! If you like to be independant on holiday and enjoying trying out different resturants or cooking yourselves -ASR is perfect! We had a few lovely meals cooked in the kitchenette with ingrediants from the Supercentre 10mins stroll away in Holetown. Eating jerk pork on your terrace listening to all the frogs and birds is so relaxing ! Thanks to everyone at All Seasons - we had a fantastic time and would love to come again soon. Only thing: watch out for the mozzies they are killer! Take deet based repellants and antihistamines if you suffer badly from bites like me ! « less

As my parents orignate from Barbados I am not a stranger to the country. Took a best mate with me and decided at the last minute to book up at the resort last minute. As we arrived we had excellent service from the time we arrived until the last day we left. We went to a lovely bar/restaurant called Zachia's or somethink like that. It was in holetown 5 minutes from apartment. Once again excellent services and the people were polite and friendly. We went clubbing and for meals around the area. Loved it so much that we went back again but this time stayed with people we knew. Lovely friendly people. Did not want to come back but the bills have to be paid. Will be back in August this year. « less

We spent a month at All Seasons Resort Europa, this was our eleventh time at Europa & have already made arrangements to return in 2013. We love that we can just open our doors in the morning onto our private patio & same level courtyard, with a pool, bar & restaurant. The rooms are very modest, but spacious & clean, with everything you need to be self sufficient if you so choose. The staff are absolutely wonderful, the most kind & thoughtful people you could meet. We are greeted most mornings with Audi's (grounds keeper) whistle & big smile. He is also quite the karoke singer. It is only a 10 min. walk from the resort to the beach, restaurants & all the shopping you need. Dennis also provides a friendly shuttle service if needed. Because of the management & staff, this is truly our home away from home. We are excited & so looking forward to another return visit. « less
